Business Owners join the San Anselmo Chamber of Commerce for increased visibility, credibility, networking, co-op advertising and marketing, community involvement and engaged social responsibility, along with the Chamber’s business political advocacy, and commerce-forward mission. The Spirit of Marin Award recognizes the achievements and volunteer spirit of local businesses and business citizens as chosen by the Marin County Chambers of Commerce.

Volunteer of the Year: Rebecca Bugas.
Rebecca’s heart is firmly rooted in San Anselmo; a community where she and her husband Gerry raised their family and, in 2019, opened The HUB, a restaurant located at Red Hill Shopping Center.
The six-year business owner gained a deeper appreciation for the business community when she witnessed its dedication and resiliency, firsthand, during COVID and the recovery that followed. Driven to give back, Bugas stepped into volunteer roles with San Anselmo Economic Development Committee (EDC) and San Anselmo Chamber, where she has dedicated endless hours to supporting and helping strengthen entrepreneurs and the local economy.
Appointed by San Anselmo Town Council to its EDC in 2020, Bugas’ time serving on EDC has broadened her understanding of how to support a healthy local economy while balancing diverse needs and perspectives. In 2023, she was selected as a San Anselmo Chamber Ambassador where she acts as a liaison for business owners and the Town Council, and advocates on behalf of initiatives that help strengthen the business community.
Bugas is recognized by San Anselmo Chamber of Commerce for her boundless energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to supporting its business community and residents.
Business Citizen of the year: Jackie Suthon
Jackie is a restaurateur and community-minded entrepreneur whose passion for food and people has helped shape San Anselmo’s evolving culinary scene.
As the owner of two acclaimed restaurants—The Baan Thai Cuisine and Kuro Nami Japanese Kitchen—Jackie is known for his dedication to authenticity, hospitality, and excellence.
Originally from Thailand, Jackie brings a global perspective to his work, blending cultural tradition with a spirit of innovation. Beyond creating memorable dining experiences, he is committed to building strong teams, nurturing local talent, and giving back to the community. From town clean-up efforts and local events to educational partnerships and small business advocacy, Jackie is a consistent and enthusiastic supporter of San Anselmo.
